I have ... View MoreI want to applaud RFK. I have for a very long time thought that the food groups that our government recommended did not truly address our health issues. That includes the drinking of alcohol. I have said time and time again that the additives in American processed food, designed to make it more desirable (tasty) and to last longer were harmful to us. I actually worked for a company who process food for McDonalds and Jimmy Dean. One of our jobs was to add ingredients to may the food "taste better". We actually had to taste it ourselves to make sure we had reached the goal. It had to be tasteful to the point of addiction! I have also said that people who drink alcohol seem to live longer than those that don't. I am 71 years old. I drink beer. Low carb of course. So here is my true story: I am a retired Marine. I spent 21 and 1/2 years in the Marines. I am active. I do not sit and watch TV. If is pleasant outside, I am working on my land. Mowing grass, cutting down trees, and clearing brush. If it is not pleasant, I am building in my house that I build all by myself, with my own hands. I started the house in 2002. I have only one room not finished but we moved into the hose 2 years ago. So I am active! I am 5 foot 9 inches tall. About 5 years ago I stepped on the scales and weigh in at 247 pounds. At that time, I was on high blood pressure medicine, anti-acid medicine, type 2 diabetic medicine, and high cholesterol medicine. My A1C was hitting 6.9 to 7.1 every 90 days. I said to myself enough is enough. I told my family that I was going to fix my own meals. That I was going off of processed food. Going back to eating normally butchered meat and back to eating raw fruits, nuts, and vegetables. And I did. I bought me two regular beef roast, the type of meat my wife would normally cook in her crock pot. I grilled them on my grill and baked some sweet potatoes sweet potatoes as I grilled. I also bought tomatoes, sweet potatoes, generic V8 juice, bananas, mixed nuts, carrots, pickled eggs, carrots, and cucumbers. I ate only one full meal a day. At breakfast I ate just one banana and drink a full glass of V8 juice. Between breakfast and supper, I would snack only on mixed nuts or a pickled egg. For supper I would start by eating a whole tomato and whole cucumber. I would slice them, put a little vinegar, and oil dressing on them. Following that, I would eat a whole baked sweet potato with nothing on it. Then I would eat me the largest piece of grilled beef that I wanted, fat and all. I never trimmed the fat off. Between supper and bed, I would eat a pickled egg or mixed nuts if I got hungry. I lost 50 lbs in 1 year! I was able to get off all of my maintenance medicine except for my high blood pressure medicine. My doctor did recommend me coming off the high blood pressure medicine but I elected to stay on it. My A1C dropped to 5.6. I felt better and looked better. At 195, I eased up on the diet, adding whole wheat bread and on Sundays, I ate with the family. I kept the weight off until I became unemployed in early 2024 and could no longer afford to buy my own groceries separate from my family’s groceries. I had to go back to eating whatever they fixed. I went back to work that fall of 2024, but I still cannot afford it. So, now I am back up to 229 pounds. I now have to eat what my family eats, putting weight back on and, yes, may A1C is back up to 6.9 and I am back on all my preventive medicine except for the type 2 diabetic. RFK has it correct. Eating real food over ultra process foods will make you thinner and healthier. Big pharmaceutical is not interested in healing you. They are only interested in maintaining your dependence on their medicines so they can make more money. Listen to RFK. EAT REAL FOOD! My other advise...fall in love and get married to a person of the opposite sex. Have kids and raise a family. Life is not about your sole happinest. It is about raising a happy family!
