Emerging Technopaganism : The Theology Pugcast Episode 333
19 views
The Pugsters take a walk on the weird side with a conversation on UFOs (or, as they are now called, UAPs), AI, and quantum computing as interrelated parts of a new, emerging religion that Glenn calls Technopaganism. There's a whole lot going on in these areas and a lot of it is very strange. Join us as Glenn takes us through a survey of some of the terrain using the work of professor of religion Diana Pasulka as a jumping off point. But be prepared for a lot of things that don't fit the way we've been taught to see the world!

What is New Age Spirituality? To understand the movement, we need to explore four historical streams that combined in the 1960s and 70s: Western Esotericism, New Thought, the 60s Counterculture, and the adaptation of Asian religions in a western context.

What was the Shepherding Movement
24 views
Imagine if your pastor had the right to dictate all major facets of your life. Where to live, what job to get, and even who to marry. What I am describing to you is known as the Shepherding Movement and it is what we will be talking about today on IBNW
The Shepherding Movement, also known as the "Discipleship Movement," arose from the Charismatic movement in the 1970s, with roots in heavy shepherding practices. Beginning as "Christian Growth Ministries" in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, it peaked in the 1980s but has since declined in impact. Despite emphasizing New Testament principles like "one another" passages and mentoring relationships, it has faced significant criticism for its cult-like manipulation tactics and the unscriptural concept of a "spiritual covering."
Purpose of the video: to explore its origins, development, key figures, controversies, and impacts we see today. Unlike some of my other examination videos where I take a neutral stand in the beginning and give my view at the end, I will come right out and say that the Shepherding Movement was and still is wrong and should never be allowed to resurface in anyway
