View MoreSo I started with infrared photography over 20 years ago when I had a Minolta DiMAGE, picked up a very thin IR filter, and just held it in front of the lens. From there, I added a holder and did this off and on for years. About seven years ago, when we moved to Gettysburg, I picked up a Nikon D3300 that was converted at LifePixel to 720nm. That was great, and the problem was carrying two cameras. I try to stay as light as possible when I go out to shoot, depending on where I am. I had my Nikon Z6 converted to full spectrum about two years ago. This was a game-changer since I quickly changed filters in the field and shot visible light, full-spectrum, or IR. I picked up a visible bandpass and 720nm filter from LifePixels. Then to mess around grabbed a cheap variable IR filter off Amazon. I know it isn't giving me the best quality, but it is letting me try out wavelengths from 530-750nm. It was interesting and I've learned a great deal about the different wavelengths. My next step will be to get a dedicated 530nm and an 830nm filter. I'd love to get the kit from Kolari but its about $900+ for the size I need. This was a little about my start with inivisible light photography and where I'm going.
