Buddy Holly was a Pioneer, using instruments on his songs no one else was doing, and getting into some Latin rhythms.
And Holly and the Crickets were self-contained- they wrote their own songs and recorded them the way they wanted!
At a time when Artists did what Record Producers told them, Holly fought back until it sounded the way HE heard it in his mind's ear.
Buddy was a true Rebel, and a major contributor to the Music Of My Life!
In this Final Chapter, I have another thing you may never have heard- Buddy doing a Radio Ad for that fateful Winter Dance Party.
It's thought to be the last thing he ever recorded!
Thanks for indulging me with one of my Faves, hope you enjoyed it!

This episode commemorating Feb 3rd, 1959 is about Buddy Holly because Holly was the major loss.
J.P. Richardson, The Big Bopper, undoubtedly would have returned to Radio.
Richie Valens was a wild card- he could have fizzled out or gone on to better things.
But Buddy already had an extensive catalogue of Music that musicians continue to play to this day.
And I'll play him too- by Buddy himself and by others, including some contemporary Artists.

This Chapter opens with a surprising Buddy Holly cover, that was also surprisingly done by Blind Faith on their one and only studio album.
After a little more Buddy, I'll play you another interview you probably have never heard.
This time it's Dick Clark with Buddy & The Crickets on the old American Bandstand, and again in October of 1958, just months before Holly's death.
Then it's time to pay some attention to Richie Valens and the Big Bopper.
I certainly don't want to neglect them.
And that includes my fave Richie Valens song.
So join me, it's a presentation quite a bit different from the way Radio plays Music today.
A good or bad thing?
Your call, lol!
