In case you missed the Senate hearings on social media censorship and surveillance today, a whistleblower from Facebook has delivered to Senator Hawley actual screenshots of the tools that Facebook uses - unwittingly to users - to track your internet activity and content **across all of the various apps and activity across all your devices.** They are not simply harvesting what you write here, but literally everything on your devices, and it is not simply for the effort of better understanding you as a consumer. They are building searchable dossiers on everyone and linking their accounts across media. In a post-Snowden surveillance landscape, Big Tech has moved into to fill the role of PRISM. (Really quite fascinating if you think about it that, in a way, Bush's Patriot Act set the stage for Big Tech surveillance conceptually. Kind of explains why the Bushie neocons are all leftists now.) The tool is called Centra. Facebook uses an internal project management system called Tasks to coordinate surveillance and censorship priorities with Twitter and Google. Whistleblower says Twitter and Google routinely suggest censorship topics (hashtags, individual users, websites... many of them conservative) and Facebook logs them for follow-up on Tasks. Sounds like Hawley may subpoena logs from Tasks. Zuck sounded like that would be an act of war. This is how a prolific user on one platform quickly gets deplatformed on the others and how the tech companies were co-censoring content within seconds across platforms. They have automated coordination of this stuff. Everyone who has talked about Hunter Biden or purported election fraud, for example, has become a "task" for Facebook, Twitter, and Google. Oh, and by the way, this stuff is being tracked at the **device** level, so they are matching your Facebook profile to your burner Twitter accounts too. Your regular reminder that executives from all of these companies have been given jobs in the Biden administration and are currently hand-picking the bureaucrats that will work in the federal government. The Biden administration has tapped Richard Stengel to head a "US Agency for Global Media," with the explicit goal of policing content. If you don't know Stengel, do a search for him. He is a passionate activist for restricting free speech, particularly speech that he deems insensitive or dangerous. I can't wait for the brave new world where the shitposting you do on a burner Twitter account triggers an IRS audit. (And before you call that a "conspiracy theory" - as if such a thing could possibly exist in 2020 anymore - the IRS admitted targeting political opponents for abusive audits and paid tens of millions of dollars in settlements to victims. You did not see that reported on NBC because *see above.*)
