My name is Pamela Hunt and I am a watercolor artist.
I began painting in watercolor in my teens and painted off and on for at least 35 years after I graduated from high school. Marriage, family, work and other interests kept me from persuing a professional career as an artist, but in the back of my mind, that was something I had always wanted. When I retired in 2014 from my job as a Data Specialist for a school system, I continued with fiberarts, but it wasn't really keeping my interest piqued. Then 2020 rolled around and in early January I put away all of my hobbies and made a commitment to myself to practice painting and drawing and hone my skills in watercolor. That decision led to my taking many avenues in style from representational to colorist to modern and finally in March, just when Covid struck, I found a video by artist Lena Gemzoe and was mesmerized by her paintings and technique. While I don't paint exactly as she does, some of her techniques have become a part of my process of painting. I paint intuitively. I use no reference but let the paint and tools for mark making do the work on the paper, which is the beauty of this master medium. The process is so fulfilling for me because the interplay of the colors that I have chosen to lay down on my paper actually tell the story.
This year I entered the 38th South Carolina Juried Art Competition and was fortunate to have two of my abstract landscape paintings juried in. I plan on entering many more shows and would welcome a one woman show at some point in the next year or so.
I have a website of my artwork at www.pamelahunt.net and regularly update my site with new work. I also send out a newsletter for those subscribing to my website. I invite you to check out my site and would love to have you as a patron.
