Tonya, sorry to hear about the fire. Looks like your parents have a boiler...not a furnace. I am a Home Inspector with 21 yrs experience. Boilers are hard to kill. Do your parents know exactly what is wrong with it? Usually you can change parts out on them much cheaper than replacing them.
