This is why it need to hire more people to inspect tracks . Any defect should be rework replace rail .

I used to live near railroad tracks as a kid. These breaks happen all the time. I remember watching a repair crew welding and grinding the tracks. This has been going on for hundreds of years now.

Tracks do develop stress cracks over time especially if the rail cars are loaded real heavy. The railroad company has a special machine that they take down the tracks to scan the rails every so often. You people that are saying they don't crack don't know what you're talking about!
