Isaiah 22:22 And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.
Isaiah 9:6-7 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Revelation 3:7-9 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
The book of Isaiah, often called the Old Testament Gospel, reveals that a child was to be born and his name called "The Mighty God, and the Everlasting Father". We know that this Child was Yeshua (Jesus) of Nazareth, that He is the unique Son of God, the express image of the invisible God. The throne of David was to be given to Him and He now holds its "key", a symbol of the right and authority of His reign, which will be consummated when He returns to this world and restores the Kingdom to Israel [Acts 1:6-7].
The glorified Yeshua, speaking to the church at Philadelphia, mentions this "key of David", reminding them of His authority, and expressing His approval of their deeds, patience and faithfulness to His word, and His love for them. The Lord's approval comes with a mandate. Knowing that they have but a little strength, notwithstanding, He sets before them an open door that no man can shut. They are to move out, through this "door", having been approved, and now equipped to represent Him.
"Philadelphia" means "brotherly love". Can it be coincidence that this church is encouraged with a reminder that the beloved psalmist/King David's key and authority are now held by Yeshua, who sends them on a mission of love?
Those of us whose patience has been tested, will also receive His approval, His protection, and His mandate, just as the church of Philadelphia did. Since God is love, and love is patient, our preparation of patience will equip us with His power to fulfill His mandate, and to go through His "open door". So doing, we will hasten the coming of His glorious Kingdom. Even so, come Lord Yeshua (Jesus)!

Because God knows all things, we can trust that His timing and His plans are best.
Romans 11:33-36
People enjoy feeling in control of their own schedule, and it can be frustrating when things don’t go according to plan. Yet whoever truly desires to walk in obedience to God must cooperate with His time frame.
Consider how you pray about situations in your life. Without realizing it, you may be demanding that the Lord follow the schedule you’ve constructed based on your very limited human wisdom. Yet if we believe God is who He says He is, how can surrendering to His way not be to our benefit?
Unlike us, the Lord has complete knowledge about our world and the details of every individual life - past, present, and future. He understands every motive, whereas we can’t accurately judge even our own intentions. God also acts out of love for His people, and He’s sufficient to meet every need at just the right time.
Submitting to God’s timetable requires faith and courage. Believe in the goodness of His heart and His plans, and determine to wait until He moves you forward. Then, as you follow His schedule, you will experience the joy of seeing a display of His great glory.

Sermon: 5722 – Praise Your Way to Victory
Pray Over This:
“So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, ‘Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the LORD your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.’” 2 Chronicles 20:20
Ponder This:
If you’re in the middle of a problem, begin to praise God, because He says, “The battle is not yours, it’s Mine.” You do have a part in the battle. Your part is praise. And you can’t hide until the battle is over and then praise the Lord. You may think, “Lord, when You’ve done it all, and when You’ve given me the victory, then I’m going to praise You.” But God says, “You’re not going to have any victory until you start praising, until you start singing.” You may naturally respond, “I can’t sing and praise yet because I don’t have any victory yet.”
We are to give praise that comes not after the victory, but before the victory. Why is this? That is ultimate faith - when we begin to praise God before we see the answer. It’s our way of saying, “God, we don’t know how You’re going to do it. That’s none of our business to know. But You’re bigger than this problem. And, therefore, I praise You.”
What makes it difficult to praise God before He gives victory in a situation or if He never gives victory at all as we wish?
Why is God worthy of praise, no matter the outcome of our circumstances?
Practice This:
Make a list of ways God has provided for you and given you victory in the past. Consider how you might recall these instances as a catalyst for praise in future difficulties.

Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. Psalm 95:6-7
There’s a philosophy blowing around the Church that we should worship God because of what it does for us. This philosophy shows up in some of our modern songs. Other times the idea may come from our pastors or worship leaders: “Let’s praise the Lord and worship Him, for worship breaks down our barriers, removes our chains, conquers the enemy, brings our hearts from the dust, and wins our victories.”
Recommended Reading: Psalm 95
Those things may truly be byproducts of worship, results which God ordains for our benefit; but they are never the reason for our worship. We worship God for who He is - the eternal Creator, robed in light, crowned with glory, transcending the universe, yet loving His creation. We praise the three-in-one God for His inexpressible greatness and His endless layers of infinite qualities. We worship and bow down before the Lord our Maker.
Yes, as we worship Him, our own hearts are restored. But never confuse the byproducts with the reason. The reason is - God and God alone!
Let everything that lives reserve its truest praise for God and God alone. Phill McHugh, “God and God Alone”
