View MoreFun Fact: I was born an Aquarius, in the Age of Aquarius, The year of the Dragon, as an Aquarius.~~~Because of Granny Gritts, I asked Jesus to be my Lord in 1985, when I was 9 years old. I immediately started praying for a family, a real family to make me their own daughter & take me out of the Sand Springs Childrens Home, founded by Charles Page, in Sand Springs Oklahoma. I can remember the first heartfelt conversation I had with God when I was ten years old. The first day of the SS Home's family summer break was starting and all of the other parents had picked their children up earlier in the day. As I walked down the long hallway of the Jr. Girls room I over heard one of our matron's Rose complaining (on the phone with her family in Texas) about the fact that she could not leave to go see her family until someone came to pick 'this last kid' up. This whole situation was nothing new in my life, however, this was right after I first received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Thanks to good ol' Granny Gritts (Erma Gassoway, one of my favorite matron's) who had given me my own bible that year for my birthday, had led me to the Lord and had taught me how to pray. Oh did I pray, I prayed for everything and everyone and I expected those prayers to be answered promptly and without fail, as Granny Gritts said, God can do ANYTHING. The prayer I most often talked with God about was for me to have a HUGE family and that everywhere I would go I would see someone I was related to. Then just maybe I would understand why everyone else cried when they came back from our 'family vacations'.Now you can see how confused and disappointed I was, having believed truly that I would have exactly what I had asked for from Jesus. This was the first chance God had to answer my prayer... and I remember for the first time ever, tears streaming down my face as I realized that I did not even have ONE family member that wanted me.I hit a dead run down the hallway, down three flight's of stairs, through the foyer and down the front ramp to the playground. I stopped and stomped my feet and shook my fists screaming at the sky telling God "If this is all you have to offer, I don't ever want anything to do with you". That was it for me, God was finished and Jesus was a fable as far as I was concerned.Many hours later one of my family members showed up drunk and had to be sobered up by the SS Home's staff before they would even let me see her. We left late that evening to go to her home which was only four miles away.I was born to Charles Thomas Lunceford & Doreen(Dodie) LeeAnne (Brummett) Lunceford in 1976.OUR MOTTO: Think Right... hung above the staircase in the foyer of the "big house" at the Sand Springs Children's home (orphanage) where I was raised from 1977 to 1990. Strange as it may sound, this motto is one of the first memories I have of my childhood. In 1990 I was emancipated and moved in with and was soon adopted by Donna Kate (Waltrip) Bryce and James Alan Waltrip in the summer of 1991. "Kate" is now married to my dad Ronald Bryce. I have 2 brothers, Jeremy Waltrip & Noah Bryce, 5 Sisters: Sandie Lunceford-Baker, Danika Dawnell (Lunceford) Bryce, Kathline (Lunceford) Kelley, Rena Lunceford & Charlotte Lunceford. I have been blessed with 3 sons and 1 daughter by birth & 3 more sons & twin daughters by God's grace! Praise the Lord Jesus! When I was 20 and asked Jesus to come again into my heart, to be my Lord and Savior because I had seriously back slidden I was reminded of the prayer that had meant so much to me as a child. As I look back I realize that God gave me MORE than I asked for. I had a birth mother, Adopted Mom, Step Mother, Birth Father, two Adopted Fathers, numerous Siblings, multiple Aunt's, Uncle's, Cousin's and my own family too. Everywhere I went I saw someone I was related to...and to this day, this is still true...isn't that amazing what God can do even when faith falters in a 10 year old girl.I am not perfect and I still fail but I choose to get back up, ask for forgiveness and to rely on my God, the one true God.I am blessed with a Godly husband, Philip D. Ames and together we continue to see the WORD of GOD work miracles in our lives and the lives of others. We stand in honor of GOD and strive daily to honor him with our lives.
