The account was discovered in a batch of files from Fling’s 2011 data breach. Talarico’s lawyers immediately responded with a four-page letter claiming that a hacker created the account, using as evidence the fact that the birth date and ZIP code don’t match Talarico’s. These data, however, aren’t especially difficult to manipulate. But the email, which was validated, also appeared in Myspace and Zynga (remember those?) breach records, and the IP address from which the account was registered also matched one used by Talarico’s sister, which was discovered in a different data breach.
And while the account preceded his time in politics, it also came while he was a sixth grade teacher. So, not even that would make it better.
