Fill a basin with warm water tonight. Pour in the brown bottle. Put your feet in, and watch. In about thirty seconds the water starts to fizz around your toes, and that fizz is showing you, honestly, where the trouble is. Your feet are telling on themselves.
And before anybody feels bad about their feet: it is not because you are dirty and it is not because you are lazy. Feet are the part of the body we are told to hide, so we hide them, in shoes, in the dark and the warm and the damp, which is exactly where every one of these problems grows. My mother kept the feet of seven children and a husband in boots with one basin, one brown bottle, one file and a jar of cream. Six uses today.
1. The soak itself: three parts warm water to one part 3% peroxide, 10 to 15 minutes, dry, then the foot file (la lima) on the hard skin, then the cream
2. The smell and pie de atleta: same soak, toes spread, and the step everybody skips, drying between every toe
3. The thick yellow nails: slow, weeks, it helps, and I correct my own "half and half" from the peroxide video, three to one for anything you repeat
4. Cracked heels: soak, file the rim only, cream, old cotton socks overnight. NEVER on an open or bleeding crack
5. Whitening stained nails: a spoon of bicarbonato and peroxide, a thin paste, five minutes, an old toothbrush
6. The shoes. The truth item: the fungus does not live on your foot, it lives in the insole. Spray, sun, once a week, and the tools too
THE FOUR RULES, so nobody gets hurt:
· The 3% brown bottle only. Never the strong one from the beauty supply.
· Never mixed with vinegar in the same basin. Together they make an acid that burns skin.
· Never on an open crack, cut or bleeding heel. Peroxide was never good for cuts.
· Never every day. Once or twice a week, then the cream, always the cream. Peroxide dries the skin.
⚠️ If you have diabetes, numb feet, or poor circulation, do not soak your feet in anything without your doctor saying yes first. I am not a doctor. I am a mother with a basin, and a mother knows when to send you to the doctor. A nail that is painful, lifting or spreading is a doctor, not a basin.
