What an awful ending to prime farmland.
As hideous as this site is, what’s even uglier is the food autonomy crisis and habitat collapses that loom on the horizon if we continue at this pace.
Solar requires more acreage per MW than any other form of energy. It’s the least energy dense form of power out there. That alone, plus our northern climate, makes it an affront on nature.

Cadmium, lead, microplastics, PFAS, and glass shards are leaking onto the soil below broken solar panels.
Do you know why? No one monitors these facilities. They don’t create jobs. They close them off with perimeter fencing and danger signs to keep the public out.
It was all for subsidies and credits. Now that it’s built, they’re onto the next piece of prime farmland.
Potato growing associations nationwide won’t touch land that held commercial solar. I wonder why?
