///@project_shadow_us: Autonomous food delivery robots in L.A. under siege. In recent times, the rise of autonomous food delivery has been significant, especially with its immense popularity post the COVID-19 pandemic. However, all is not rosy on the streets of L.A. for these mechanical couriers. There’s a surge in videos showing vandals attacking and even looting the contents of these robots. Steve Avila from Blu Jam Café in Hollywood shares that even though they need to remake the food when a robot gets tampered with, they do get reimbursed. The financial implications on delivery companies are concerning given the high costs associated with these robots. However, not all is grim. Serve Robots, which operates many of these delivery vehicles in West Hollywood, assures that they successfully complete 99.9% of their deliveries despite the challenges. Starship Technologies has implemented measures like loud sirens and 12 cameras to deter potential vandals. They mention, “If someone tries to block the robots, the robots will attempt to maneuver around them or politely ask them to move.Local patrons and customers hope that these acts of vandalism cease. Clark Childers, a local customer, rightly points out, “They are helping small businesses and they’re not causing any harm. I think people are just looking for attention:#FoodDeliveryRobots
