A human issue.We didn’t choose to homeschool because we believe traditional schooling to be bad. We chose it for the freedom it affords us and because we simply want to spend our days together.It was after we decided to homeschool that I really started learning about the developing brain and how children learn best. And I realized in that time that most educational models, regardless of where they’re implemented, aren’t wholly conducive to fostering creative thinking.So how do we remedy this? That’s the million dollar question, right?I don’t fully have the answer, unfortunately, but I do know that giving our children, and ourselves, the time and space to create, to experiment, to be curious, and to simply experience more of what we are trying to learn that our brains react differently than simply memorizing and regurgitating facts.I feel a change coming, and I think it’s well past time.Anyone else agree?
