#Repost///@astro.voyagers: A stabilized sky timelapse featuring the Milky Way over Crater Lake 🥰🌌Follow @astro.voyagers and @space_facts7The purpose of this video is to help us visualize the Earth’s rotation. It’s something we know is happening, but is not something we directly perceive.Footage captured at Crater Lake National Park on July 19, 2020.How was it possible to capture? The camera is mounted on a moving motorized rig. It is fixed on a particular sky spot and it is programmed to move enough for the stars and the milky way to be in the same place in each picture it takes. Since the milky way and the sky "move" throughout the night and the camera follows them and keeps them in the same spot in the pictures this gives us the opportunity to see the earth rotating since we're fixed on the stars.Video credits: @brummelphotoVia: @spaceinnutshell_______________________
