AAR for GURPS Run
Exposition
Setting is TL 4 Fantasy Europe: Matchlocks and magic, with all spells taking a -2 due to reduced mana environment.
Characters are hired muscle, rented out to help guard a frontier manor house on the eastern coast of Ireland, during a rebellion. After making a name for themselves there, they get seconded to assist the forces of the English Lord Deputy.
The Monster in the Trees
After being helpful in one battle, they find their allies' subsequent advance north stymied by a belt of woods the road passes through, wherein frightening roars are heard whenever they approach.
After weeks of this, the army asks the PCs to go in and clean it out.
They are assigned a mixed dozen of pikemen and musketeers, all volunteers.
Their troops get badly handled in an ambush, and the PCs then order them to withdraw, but they subsequently drive off all the enemy's grunts as well, leaving a 'pros vs pros' duel.
Both teams are blindly blundering through woods, searching; it's a bit like subs hunting each other.
One PC is invisible, and can walk om air, so moves a bit faster. He gets close enough to here the rumbling roars of the beast, and goes back to inform the team.
"I DID It!"
The beast is a summoned war elephant, complete with armor. It is supported by its summoner (an armored horseman) and a couple of infantry.

One of the PCs is is cursed to be inherently upsetting to animals, and the magical elephant is no exception. As soon as it smells him, it leaves its reserve position, smashing through trees to go on the attack. The infantry follow.
The party sniper shoots the beast with his magical buffalo rifle (long story), severely wounding it.
Abot this time, the invisible guy walks Over it, and behind it, looking for the gap in its armor behind the tail. Finding it, he plunges his dagger in . . . a blow the beast's thick hide casually absorbs without any real damage.
BUT the elephant takes that moment to pass out from the rifle wound.
Invisible guy thinks he took it down - and always will.

I'm sort of stuck on what to add next. I was thinking of starting to list major cities and exports and families in each, that sort of thing. Maybe do geographical details, too, describing the denizens therein. Or should I add more detail to each family description and include individual personalities? Looking for other stuff that should be included (besides stats, which I'd have to do in 3.5e notation as a placeholder until I have my own system more developed. Part of the catalyst for this was OpenOffice corrupting my file, so I had to rebuild the entire book--and added over 30 pages of detail.
For anyone interested, I revised the original manuscript and added about 30 pages or so to what I have, and I'm finally back to where I was before OpenOffice ate my document.
