Until the 1970's Homosexuality was a crime, a sin, a mental illness ... it made of your father a failure of maleness and your mother an enabler of abomination. Dealt that hand it is understandable that DEVIATION indeed resulted ... ... fit-in-or-flounder marriages, children who never knew you; and lives of quiet desperation ... everyone had a lonely uncle or spinster aunt that you only saw at holidays, whispered about salaciously with bitter pity. I understand an over-reaction to that crushing an obstacle to self-realization but the irony of having the shame I bore turned into a badge of honor now is practically a slap in the face ... all that oppression turned into EMPATHY ... are we supposed to take you seriously about things like integrity? I am a queer democrat voting for Trump. I do this because my sexual preference (as I remember it) was NOT the thing about me I wanted to be remembered for. I was a scholar, a spiritual-in-action kind-of-guy, kind and gracious when I could be, a leader and good friend ... while they were alive I made my parents proud that their values (the ones they fought a war for) were safe with me ... ... that I too would have a happy productive life of accomplishment that left behind a better world than I was born into ... if any of these things had anything to do AT ALL with who I slept with I would have embraced it as a Master Status Trait ... been proud to be so invested ... marched in a parade in my underwear … ... but as it was the fewer people who knew the better ... I was not interested in their sexual attraction to me because of mine to selfish aspects of myself ... it could be lived with, even comforting for a fraudulence; since I would not be leaving an heir behind to carry on my legacy, sex was nothing more than a satisfied need (at the time not the kind of thing you advertised) and certainly not how I wished to be judged for character ... from the get-go a non-contributor to the heritage pool, BUT ... What a great masturbation was had instead. Trump says live and let live ... be who you can be .. there are lots of patriotic ways to leave behind a better world for what you did as a child of God ... living as designed ... to make Him proud of the choices made with it. That appeals to me more than "get my pronoun right or I'll hound you to hell AND you better WANT to sleep with me ... or let me beat the crap out of your daughter as a tucked-in muscular female athlete (better version) facsimile ... or you're a bigot." Love me and despair. It used to be love me anyway. Nothing works that replaces the creator ... all you end up with is abortion as the politically correct kitsch of Godless love.
