We heard about this one floating around for a while, before CoVid came around and became the left's next big talking point. It essentially means that the government will wave a magic wand and make climate change disappear...by imposing a series of taxes and imposing penalties upon companies that refuse to use impossible and impractical solutions to alternative energy. Let's ignore the fact that proposals for the new deal completely ignore superior options like nuclear and geothermal energy. The main tool of the Green New Deal would be the government. Now, let me just say I'm rather patriotic, but that loyalty is to my nation, not the government that runs it. Every time the government has tried to fix something (War on Poverty, Roosevelt's New Deal, World War 2 Dieting Campaign, and as much as I love Reagan, the War on Drugs), the results were either a horrendous backfire or the exact opposite of whatever they set out to accomplish. So next time, listen to Republicans when we say the answer is privatized innovation (encouraged by government tax breaks, grants and investments), because it is.
