Matthew 7:16 (NKJV) 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
How do we tell good from bad? We look at the fruit that it produces.
Sometimes we can see those fruits immediately and make the right choice regarding a situation or a person.
Other times, it may take a bit for things to be exposed.
We must be very careful not to jump into a situation before we see the fullness of the fruit it bears.
It will show its face sooner or later. Be patient and we will eventually see the heart and motive or motives regarding the person or situation.
God is faithful to open our eyes if we truly want to see the truth. Sometimes, because the truth may hurt, we don’t want to see it. We don’t want to know it. Instead, we choose to look the other way and ignore it.
I love the verse above because it speaks loud and clear as to how not to get caught up in the wrong thing or with the wrong people.
It is our choice to make.
If we are sincere in wanting to know if something is good or bad, we must watch, wait, and listen. And as we do, it will be revealed to us.
And whether it is a person, a place, or a situation that produces bad fruit, let us remember as a believer to lift it up in prayer, as the Holy Spirit leads us to do so. Amen.
