View MoreOne of the greatest things happened the other day. I got to attend my granddaughter's school award ceremony and even though she's in the 2end grade this story is not about her, it's about how it was conducted.
As we waited the children from 1st throughout 5th grade started entering. As they sat the principal introduced herself and we were asked to stand for the pledge of allegiance. All the kids recited it on point. Then it was followed up by a few questions she asked all the kids, such as what does liberty mean? What is Americanism meant? And one that brought a smile to my face is that she asked what Patriotism was. The answer to those questions were spot on. It's good to know that our country's true values still thrive in what is seeming growing fewer and fewer schools.
I will say that this is a small town farming community in south east Colorado as well as it's a great feeling as all stood and said the Pledge of the Allegiance.
