I'd picked up this little 1954 Blues jewel recently.. a white label promo copy of Junior Wells' "Lawdy, Lawdy" b/w " 'Bout The Break Of Day".
Amos Wells Blakemore was born December 9, 1934 in West Memphis, Arkansas. While growing up on the family farm, he and Junior Parker, a harmonica player, had grown up together.
In 1952, Wells had briefly joined Muddy Waters' group, replacing Little Walter, before making his debut solo recording the following year for Leonard Allen's States label, producing a total of four singles.
