Argentina’s President Milei Calls the U.N. Useless to their Faces!! 🚨🚨
Javier Milei walked up to the podium of the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday and tore the institution apart in front of the whole world. The president of Argentina called the U.N. "a useless organization whose only purpose is to sustain a caste of fatally arrogant parasites masquerading as well-intentioned bureaucrats." Then he finished them off with the words of Ludwig von Mises, the economist whose ideas you have fought to keep alive.
He opened with praise, and it was a setup. Milei called the U.N.'s founding promise to settle disputes in peace and defend human freedom and dignity "noble words." Then he dropped the hammer: "Today, regrettably, it is time to acknowledge that in practice that sacred covenant has been broken."
This is the man who won Argentina's presidency in 2023 swinging a chainsaw at a bloated state. On Wednesday he brought that same chainsaw to the 81st session of the General Assembly, in front of diplomats from the largest international body on earth.
Milei went straight at the U.N.'s record on COVID-19. He said "bodies under the auspices of this house put themselves before scientific evidence and the sovereignty of nations and promoted forced lockdown policies throughout the world." He would not let them hide behind the excuse of an honest mistake. "Where some allege a public health policy error, we see a global experiment in social control disguised as science," he said.
He named what those lockdowns stole from families, including the "right to work, to receive an education and to bid farewell to their dead." Families watched funerals for their own parents through a phone screen, and Milei made sure the U.N. heard about it. He also charged that "every time [the U.N.] failed, rather than reviewing the model or apologizing, they doubled down."
Keeping the peace is the reason the U.N. exists, and Milei said it has failed at that too. "Those who were supposed to guarantee collective security and human rights failed in their task," he said. "They allowed chaos, violence and international terrorism to flourish."
"The alleged defenders of human rights have sheltered bloodthirsty dictatorships and regimes that stone women in the streets," Milei said. He accused those same bodies of having "systematically voted against Israel while remaining silent in the face of Islamic terrorism and the genocide of Christians in Africa." He said it to their faces, in their own building.
He also hit the U.N. on a wound Argentines have carried for generations. Milei said "an organization established to defend the territorial sovereignty of its members decided to look the other way" on the Malvinas, which Britain calls the Falkland Islands, and on the South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands. He called it "a test of the gulf that exists between the words of international institutions and the reality upon which they purport to act."
"There's no shortage of words or resolutions," Milei said. What the U.N. lacks, he said, is consequences. "Because an institution that cannot ensure that its words carry weight in the real world loses the most important thing of all, its authority."
Instead of keeping the peace, Milei said, the U.N. has "built a bureaucratic leviathan devoted to deciding how the peoples of the world and their citizens should live." He called it "a curious mixture of anarchy and tyranny." As Milei laid it out, dictatorships and terror groups break the most basic rules and walk away clean. Free nations that play by the rules get what he called "Orwellian control and impositions."
"I would remind them of what Mises said," Milei told the assembly. "Good people do not think about controlling the lives of their fellow human beings."
Mises spent the last three decades of his life in New York, a few miles from where Milei stood. For more than 20 years, private patrons who believed in his work paid for his teaching post at New York University.
On Wednesday, a sitting president marched those ideas into the United Nations and called its bureaucrats parasites to their faces. The institution he blamed for lockdowns that kept families from their own parents' funerals had to sit there and take it. Mises's words made it to that podium because people like you refused to let them die. Every central planner in that hall heard them loud and clear, and your support makes sure they keep hearing them.

Argentina's "Trump". As my grandmother would've said, "no tiene pelo en la lengua", the man has no hair on his tongue, meaning he says it as he feels and sees it. Argentina is on my bucket list, along with El Salvador.
