This is my night stand gun.... a S&W Model 642 +P with Crimson Trace grips. For my purposes, it's about optimum. Some would bemoan the fact that it only has five shots, but if I can't discourage the prowler with it, then I need a different gun. At 15 1/2 ounces, it's great for concealed carry. I often forget I've even got it on me, it's so light. They also make it in .38 Spl./.357 Mag. with a titanium cylinder. It only weights 11 ounces! My son bought one and the first thing out of the barrel was a 158 gr. .357 mag. round! I tried to warn him.... but he's as hard-headed as his Dad! He said it was like a cherry bomb going off that's held tightly in your hand!
