NIH researchers have been charged with allegedly smuggling monkeypox-related biological materials into the United States.
Federal authorities say they brought 113 vials through a commercial airport and falsely described the contents to customs officials.
The researchers’ work focused on “emerging viral pathogens” and how those pathogens “cross the species barrier”.
