Ilhan Omar’s team is now blaming Republicans and President Trump for Minnesota’s massive taxpayer-funded fraud. Her former district director told the Minnesota House fraud committee that the MEALS Act “never even passed.” Omar’s own September 2020 press release said “Rep. Omar passed the MEALS Act” and said the bill “directly authorized these school meal waivers.” That same former aide blamed Trump because he was in the White House when the fraud happened. Omar’s own press release told a different story. Her office wrote that “this Administration” and Republicans were “doing everything in their power to strip funding for child nutrition programs.” Republicans were trying to end the waivers. Omar was fighting to extend them.
