Meet Abdisatar Ahmed Hassan, 23, Minneapolis. Naturalized citizen who spent 2024 downloading detailed bomb-making manuals for C4, urea nitrate, HMTD and more while contacting Somalian ISIS recruiters, calling them “commander” and “uncle,” begging to join the jihad. He quit his job, drained his savings, booked a one-way ticket to Somalia, and bragged online: “I will become ISIS straight away.” Turned away at Minneapolis airport the first time. Tried again on Dec 29: flew from Minneapolis to Chicago, but before he could board his flight to Somalia, CBP’s Tactical Terrorism Response Team pulled him aside and killed his plan on the spot. Back in Minnesota, he cheered the Jan 1, 2025 jihadist attack in New Orleans that slaughtered 14 Americans, hailing the killer as a “Muhaajid” and “the legend that killed the Americans.” He filmed himself driving through Minneapolis at night waving an ISIS flag with a buck knife on his lap. Yesterday a federal judge sentenced him to 102 months in prison plus 15 years supervised release. Why don’t I believe this is the last time we will hear his name?
