Pope Leo XIV is facing sharp criticism after urging Europe to welcome Muslim migrants and downplay fears of Islam. In comments referencing concerns about Muslim immigration, the Pope said: “I know in Europe there are many times fears generated by people who are against immigration and trying to keep out people who may be from another country, another religion, another race. And in that sense I would say that we all need to work together.” He pointed to Lebanon as a model of Christians and Muslims coexisting peacefully. Yet many point to ongoing realities: mass sexual assaults and grooming gangs in Europe, no-go zones, parallel societies, and the continued slaughter of Christians by Islamist groups in Nigeria and elsewhere.
