This is why we use the term MMIR (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives) rather than MMIW (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women).Statistically, there are more Native men missing or murdered than women. When data searches are limited only to women and girls, it effectively erases the men and relatives who are also impacted by this crisis. Please note that this is not specific to Colorado; it is the norm across the country.
