"RENEWED STRENGTH" FOR THE FAINTING" "Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." (Isaiah 40:30-31)It’s hard to imagine a 2 or 3year old getting tired. They seem to have endless energy, don't they? On top of that, they only have two speeds: fast and faster. When you try to put them to bed, they deny all the way there that they are in need of even a nap. But the moment their head hits the pillow; they fall into a deep and much-needed slumber. Yes, I definitely remember those days with our own children!Verse 30 says, "Even the youths shall faint and be weary." Certainly, us older folks are ever mindful of our limitations. Try going a day or two without food or several nights without sleep. Everyone of us are in need of constant refreshment and rest because we are not self-contained or autonomous creatures.While that is true of all people physically, it is even more evident spiritually. No one walks this earth in self-supplied satisfaction during their entire life. Although folks don't always go to the right source, they're always looking for a spring of spiritual renewal somewhere, where they can come and drink and be refreshed.The promise here, and throughout the Word of God for you and I as Christians is that as we wait on the Lord, and look to Him for that satisfying refreshment for our souls; we will find that His supply is never bankrupt and that His power to strengthen us never weakens. Young or old, rich or poor, sick or healthy, our Lord will deliver and supply our needs, not just for a day or two, but over and over again throughout our lives.Friends, have you received His perfect salvation and experienced His plenteous supply of strength for your life; or are you, in your own weakness denying that you are even in need of rest and refreshment? If the latter is true, then I bid you to lay your weary head on the pillow of God’s comfort and find the deep and much-needed rest and renewal that only He can provide.
