‘There’s some rain coming,’ said David Frohman (Cloud Appreciation Society Member 55,664), looking out at this Cumulonimbus over the coastal waters of the Atlantic from Delray Beach, Florida, US. The heavy showers are unmistakable, extending down from the storm cloud to the water’s surface. And at the front base of the Cumulonimbus, extending to the right, is what looks to be an arcus. Extending like a ledge just ahead of the showers, this cloud feature is like the front bumper of an advancing storm. When you see one, an arcus suggests the Cumulonimbus is likely heading your way. It looks, David, like there’s rain coming, indeed.
