"THIS I KNOW, FOR GOD IS FOR ME""When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me." (Psalm 56:9)Oh, what five words of understanding we find in this verse. Hear them again, "..for God is for me." Do you know that to be true in your walk with God? And yet, do we really live as though we fully understand and appreciate that promise? How can any human tongue fully express the depth of that truth? The great preacher and apostle relates it to us in the form of a question, "What shall we say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31)He was for you and I before the foundation of the world. He was for you and I before and after the fall. He was for you and I when His Well-Beloved and Only-Begotten Son walked among men, wrought amazing miracles, and experienced the full weight of His Father's wrath upon Him. He was for you and I when we ran like the criminals we were from His mercy and willingness to pardon. He was for you and I that day when His Healing Balm of forgiveness overwhelmed our hurting souls and we gave him our hearts and experienced those sure words of delivery, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:32)And lest we forget, He's STILL for us. He has never reneged on His Word or backed down on any of His Promises. He is STILL for us when we rebel, refuse, or run from Him. He is STILL for us when we sometimes filled with doubt, disobedience and denial to and of Him. He is STILL for us when we're showy with our own words and silent with His own Words.He is for us when we struggle and He is for us when we're strong.He is for us when we're fearful and He is for us when we're faithful.He is for us when others are against us and He is for us when we anguish for others.Friends, what a promise we have from the heart of the Saviour to the hand of the songwriter, for the hope of every saint. Meditate again on those words from your Eternal Provider for every step we take, "..for God is for me."
