U.S. Just Used Something “Unstoppable” Against Iran’s Secret Bunkers
Recent reports indicate that the United States Air Force has targeted deeply buried military facilities in Iran using specialized bunker-penetrating weapons designed to destroy underground bases.
One of the key weapons believed to be used is the GBU‑57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator, a 30,000-pound bunker-buster bomb carried by the stealth Northrop B‑2 Spirit bomber. This weapon is specifically designed to penetrate thick rock and reinforced concrete before detonating inside underground facilities.
Military sources say these bombs can drill more than 60 meters (about 200 feet) underground before exploding, making them one of the few conventional weapons capable of reaching Iran’s fortified nuclear and missile complexes buried beneath mountains.
Satellite imagery released after recent strikes shows multiple deep impact points at Iranian military sites, suggesting powerful penetrator bombs were used against hardened bunkers.
Many of Iran’s strategic facilities—often called underground “missile cities”—were built specifically to survive normal airstrikes. But bunker-buster weapons are designed to defeat these defenses by breaking through layers of rock and concrete before detonating inside the structure.
However, analysts caution that destroying every underground facility may still be difficult. Some nuclear sites are believed to be buried hundreds of feet below ground, which may require repeated strikes or even ground operations to fully neutralize.
⚡ Bottom line: The U.S. is using some of its most powerful conventional weapons to attack Iran’s underground bunkers—technology specifically built to destroy deeply buried military infrastructure without using nuclear weapons.
