Michigan Democrats Caught Reinstating Dead Voters on Rolls — Ballots Mailed Out
In shocking testimony before Michigan's House Election Integrity Committee, Republican State Rep. Rachelle Smit exposed a glaring failure in the state's voter roll maintenance under Democratic control.
As a former township clerk, Smit personally removed deceased individuals from the rolls — only to watch the Secretary of State's office put them right back on.
"I took off a dead voter in my township and guess what? That dead voter was put back on — not by me. That was done by the Secretary of State's office," Smit stated bluntly.
She went further with a personal example that hits hard: "There was a family member who at one point was registered at my in-laws' home, and that family member had died nearly 20 years prior. They were put on the rolls at 2020. They were mailed voter application ballots without the authorization to do that — that's a local clerk job."
Smit continued: "So I went in there, removed her from the voting rolls because I know firsthand this family member is dead and deceased. Just this past election cycle, lo and behold, that person was put back on the voter rolls and has a card of the early voting location polling that actually have — can produce. And that's a problem."
This isn't glitch or error — it's a pattern raising red flags about election integrity in a battleground state. When clerks clean up dead voters, higher-ups override them and send ballots to graves. Michigan needs real fixes now: full audits, strict safeguards, and no more excuses from those running the system. Clean rolls mean fair elections — anything less invites fraud.
