1 Thessalonians 4:16–18 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
COMFORT: One of the greatest comforts I can give Christians is this: you will not be here when the Antichrist is revealed to the world.
But the greatest comfort is Jesus Christ Himself, who offers salvation so that your soul will not be deceived by the Antichrist and lost in judgment.
Scripture shows the return of Jesus Christ in two distinct events.
First is the meeting in the clouds, often called the rapture.
In this moment, believers are caught up to meet the Lord in the air, just as 1 Thessalonians 4 teaches. Christ does not return to the earth at this time.
Then comes the Second Coming, when Christ returns to the earth after the Tribulation.
Acts 1:11 “Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”
Just as He ascended, He will return.
When Christ returns to the earth, He will judge rebellion, stop the wars of the nations, and demonstrate to the world that there is only one way to the Father—not many roads, but one Savior.
At that time Satan will be cast into the bottomless pit for one thousand years, and Christ will establish His kingdom on the earth.
So understand this clearly: I am not waiting for the Antichrist.
I am waiting for my Deliverer.
Titus 2:13 (KJV) “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.”
