📖 Second Epistle to the Thessalonians 2:10 “…because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.”THE REJECTION OF TRUTH The image of the woman holding up her hand captures something very common in our day—people stopping truth before they even hear it. The problem in our society is not that truth is unavailable. The problem is that many people simply do not want it. The Bible tells us plainly that people perish because they “received not the love of the truth.” Today, truth is often rejected for several reasons. Social reasons. Many people fear rejection more than they fear being wrong. If the truth of God contradicts the beliefs of friends, family, or society, some will raise their hand and push truth away to avoid criticism or isolation. Personal reasons.Truth often exposes sin. Rather than allowing truth to correct their lives, people reject it because they prefer comfort over conviction. Political reasons.Truth is frequently filtered through political loyalties. When Scripture confronts a political ideology or worldview, many people defend their position instead of submitting to the authority of God’s Word.Cultural reasons.Modern culture teaches that truth is flexible and subjective. What was once called sin is now celebrated, and biblical truth is dismissed as outdated. But there are other reasons as well. Educational and philosophical reasons. Many have been trained to trust human reasoning above divine revelation. Universities, philosophical systems, and modern thought often shape a person’s view of life so strongly that the authority of God’s Word is treated as secondary. In doing so, people allow man to educate their thinking, while rejecting the truth that God has already revealed.Yet Scripture calls believers to something very different.📖 Epistle to the Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”God’s Word is not meant to fit inside the ideas of man. Rather, it is meant to renew and transform the mind of man. When a person truly loves the truth, they do not reshape Scripture to match their opinions; they allow Scripture to reshape their thinking, their values, and their life. The real issue is not whether truth exists. God has already spoken. The real question is this: Do we love the truth enough to receive it—even when it corrects us?When a person receives the truth of God’s Word, it does more than inform the mind—it transforms the heart and redirects the entire purpose of life.
