"THE IMMENSITY OF GOD"
Heard a speaker recently who remarked that the song, “All I Have Is Christ,” is not a lament. At least, it shouldn’t be. It should express the supreme joy of possessing something that makes every possession and every pleasure of the world pale into utter insignificance.
Do you ever meditate on the immensity of God? And if so, do you get dizzy? Because, honestly, if we could know everything there is to know about God, even after ten billion years of intense study, He would not be God. THE GLORY, THE MAJESTY, THE SUPREMACY OF THE CHRIST WHO IS GOD IS SO FAR BEYOND THE SCOPE OF OUR LIMITED, FINITE MINDS THAT WE CAN ONLY GLIMPSE ECHOES OF HIS GREATNESS. All the theologies and all the books about God ever written constitute a mere drop in the ocean of what can be known about God. Even when we pass through the portal of death and are awarded glorified, transformed bodies, our grasp of God’s greatness will be merely beginning.
And to think that a God of that magnitude cares about your soul. That he notices how many hairs are missing from your head. That he is moved by your prayers. That he yearns for your fellowship. That he loves you with an unconditional love.
Can you ponder that--even for a moment--without being moved to tears?
