HOW KANSAS LEGISLATORS JUST MADE RESTROOMS MORE DANGEROUS FOR EVERY WOMAN BASED ON FEAR AND IGNORANCE First, a bit of knowledge so no one is ignorant. WHEN a person is transitioning, they start taking hormone blockers and enhancers for testosterone and estrogen. SO if they're taking testosterone blockers and estrogen enhancers, their bodies develop female characteristics and male characteristics diminish greatly. If they're taking testosterone enhancers and estrogen blockers, their bodies develop male characteristics that become prominent. In order to change one's birth certificate, virtually all states require that a medical professional CERTIFY that "the individual has undergone irreversible gender changes through hormone therapy and/or gender modifying surgery." In effect, the person is NO LONGER the gender they were born as. They may have a different gender DNA, but their bodies are irreversibly modified to be the gender they identify as. But ignorant people have stereotypical images in their heads of straight men with facial hair wearing lipstick and high heels, or highly masculine women pretending to be men. Nothing is farther from the truth. OFTEN because of the hormones, once a person has gone through the gender transition process, they become much more like their gender identity than their birth gender. So why is basing legislation like Kansas has on stereotypes so dangerous for EVERY WOMAN?? First, for straight women that it means transgender men, who often have full beards, deep voices, and all of the characteristics of actual men ~ except maybe a penis if they haven't had surgery for that ~ are legally REQUIRED to use women's bathrooms because they were assigned female at birth. So you have those who CLEARLY appear to be a man walking into the women's restrooms simply because they were assigned female as infants. That's SUPER dangerous because the women will have to get used to people looking very much like men walking into the women's restroom to use it. When women adjust to having people who look like men, sound like men, and act like men coming into the women's restroom simply because they were assigned female at birth, the straight rapist men in society can then begin to walk into women's restrooms and try to pass for transgender men, and women won't be able to tell the difference!! Wouldn't you rather have those who look, sound, and act like women in the women's restroom?? And then you have transgender women that you've just sentenced to walk into men's restrooms looking very much like women, having breasts, no facial hair, etc. And we all know statistically STRAIGHT MEN are the biggest perpetrators of violent crimes. So Kansas has just put all transgender women at risk of being beaten up or assaulted in men's restrooms because they can no longer go into women's restrooms as law abiding people. Transgender bathroom laws are a gross failure of people and legislators to think through their fears or thirst for punishing transgender people's use of the restroom. Through bathroom laws under the guise of protecting women, everyone is at greater risk. Transgender women have been using women's restrooms after they've transitioned without incident for years and often unnoticed. But politicians have sown fear about attacks on women in the restroom by transgender women, when that actually DOES NOT HAPPEN. If you fear men attacking women in the women's restroom, you really need to be looking at straight males because they're the ones with the sexual lust for women. Transgender women just want to be women. They transition to become women, and biologically, their bodily characteristics become that of women as they undergo the medical process. Transgender women are no threat to women in the women's bathroom!! A lot of times, after a person has fully transitioned, and particularly if they've undergone permanent bodily changes, people can't even tell a person is transgender. So the Kansas law that invalidates gender markers doesn't accomplish anything functional toward safety for ANY woman. It appears like a Hitler Era move that scapegoats transgender people, treats them harshly, and which is born totally out of ignorance and fear. It sickens me that people, out of their own ignorance and fear, treat others with such distain that they wish them harm.
