John 13:11 (KJV) - “For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.”
Jesus did not discover Judas’ betrayal later.
He knew it beforehand.
He knew the heart behind the handshake.
He knew the motive behind the loyalty.
He knew the devil already had a foothold (John 13:2).
And still… He washed his feet.
This was not softness.
This was not approval.
This was not ignorance.
This was truth wrapped in mercy.
The world teaches us to love those who deserve it.
Christ loved in the presence of treachery — without denying what was real.
He did not pretend Judas was clean.
He did not excuse Judas’ sin.
But He still served.
Why?
Because righteousness does not become compromised by humility.
Sometimes obedience to God means doing right toward someone who is not right toward you.
Christ did not serve Judas because Judas was faithful.
Christ served Judas because Christ is faithful.
And here is the searching truth:
You can sit at the table, walk with Jesus, hear His words, and still remain unclean.
Religion sat at that supper.
Hypocrisy dipped in the same dish.
And yet, the Savior still extended grace — even to the one who would reject it.
Serving others does not mean pretending sin is not sin.
Loving others does not mean trusting what God has already exposed.
Jesus washed the feet of a betrayer…but He never mistook him for a believer.
Grace is not blindness.
Truth is not cruelty.
Walk in both.
