“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” — 2 Corinthians 11:3 (KJV)The first deception in the Bible did not come with force. It came with subtilty. The serpent did not show up with horns and a pitchfork. He came with words. Smooth words. Questioning words. Words that sounded reasonable. He did not attack Eve’s emotions first — he targeted her mind.Paul warns the church the same way.Just as Eve was beguiled, believers can have their minds corrupted. Notice that word. Corrupted. Not slightly adjusted. Not improved. Corrupted. Spoiled. Twisted. And what is being attacked? “The simplicity that is in Christ.”The Gospel is simple. Christ died for our sins. He was buried. He rose again. Salvation is by grace through faith — not works, not religion, not self-improvement programs. Christ alone. But the enemy still whispers: “Did God really mean that?” “Surely that’s too narrow.” “You can add just a little something to it.” “You deserve more.”That is how corruption begins — not with open rebellion, but with subtle doubt. If Satan cannot destroy your faith, he will try to complicate it. He will try to mix grace with works. Truth with feelings. Scripture with human reasoning. Stay with the simplicity that is in Christ.Do not trade the clear Word of God for voices that say what you want to hear. Eve listened. And the cost was enormous. Guard your mind. Stay in the Book. Keep Christ central. The serpent still whispers — but the Word of God still stands.
