The Great Reciprocal EffectJames 4:6-8 “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” There is nothing more repulsive to God than pride and arrogance. There is nothing more acceptable to Him than a humble heart. I am more convinced today than ever, that I cannot make it through life without a daily fellowship time with Jesus Christ my Lord. Satan does all he can to hinder that fellowship, and that is why we are admonished here to resist him. That means to set yourself against him, oppose all that he seeks to tempt you with. We are invited to draw nigh to God. And when we do, there is a promise of a great reciprocal effect, God will draw nigh to us. I need that!! My daily time with God through His Word is my time of drawing nigh to Him. In the process of this one is able to cleanse his hands and purify his heart. It is good to feel clean and close to God. It is all made possible by the shed blood of Christ. Ephesians 2:13 tells us we “are made nigh by the blood of Christ”. There is no substitute for a daily time with Jesus through the Word of God. The return of such an investment of our time can never be calculated fully. Draw nigh to God. When you do, He promises to draw nigh to you. What a promise!
