"I FOLLOW NO ONE BUT THE LORD!!!" I've had those words trumpeted at me more times than I care to count. One brother said, "sorry to disappoint you, I follow no one save the Lord Jesus Christ." Not sure why he felt the need to tell me that, but there it is. Like most other folks who set out to toot their own horn, he failed to check the scriptures. Please note... 1 Corinthians 11:1: Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. 1 Corinthians 4:16: Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.Philippians 3:17: Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. 1 Thessalonians 1:6: And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost: 1 Thessalonians 2:14: For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews: 2 Thessalonians 3:7: For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; Hebrews 6:12: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Hebrews 13:7: Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. 3 John 1:11: Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God. Social media can be a wonderful thing, when used properly, but it can also be a wonderful way to EXPRESS YOUR IGNORANCE, if you don't GET IN THE BOOK and KNOW THE TRUTH before you start typing. OF COURSE we are to follow the Lord, but the Lord gives His people many godly examples that show them HOW to follow the Lord, and there's a real good chance that if you ignore those examples, you will NOT be following the Lord . . . while boasting that you are!
