For more than 72 hours after her hospitalization, ICE prevented her family and legal team from seeing or speaking with her, leaving them without information about her condition or whereabouts. Kordia’s mother said her daughter was “snatched away” and unjustly held by ICE for almost a year, adding that not knowing which hospital she was in or her medical condition was agonizing.
