View MoreRick Dancer: Warning To The Extreme I’m not one to want to help you, but I think it’s only fair to warn you that you are taking your cause too far. Oh, you don’t have to listen to me, and in some ways I hope you don’t. Someone asked me why I’m so biased now. As a journalist, I had to present both sides of an issue and allow the public to decide. The media scrapped that idea years ago, but still pretend to cover both sides. I’m a private opinion writer/video producer. I spent 30 years of my life trying to be fair. But when the extreme left lies, cheats, and calls its opposition names, I’m done. When they boycott and threaten people who disagree with them, the gloves are off. When I get death threats, like the one yesterday where the guy told me Montana is not too far to go to find me, I’m done. A tide is turning. You try to make heroes out of two people who, unfortunately, broke the law trying to stop ICE from deporting dangerous, illegal criminals. But say nothing about all the people who ended up raped, tortured, and murdered by illegal criminals; Americans see through your inconsistency. Even your name-calling is backfiring. I got a letter from a father in Eugene. He said,” Man, these people in Eugene are crazy. I’m at the park playing with my daughter, enjoying our evening, having a great time. I’m wearing a sweatshirt with an American flag on the front of it, and this person walks right next to me, and in front of my daughter looks at me and says, fucking fascist." He goes on to say his daughter didn’t know what the word meant and thought the name-caller meant fastest. She started running around saying she was the fastest. “Great response by my kid, and I couldn't even get mad. But the nerve of this person to say that to me at a playground is astonishing.” So, some of you want me to be fair, really? Was the fascist name-caller being fair? Perhaps it’s time you examine your tactics before it’s too late. Perhaps it is fair to point out untruths, I think it’s more than fair, and it’s my job. We put up with your bullshit during COVID. We’ve tried to get along (in the past) and not make too many waves. A tidal wave is coming. Over the weekend, your members decided it was their right (fair) to bash in windows at the federal courthouse in Eugene. All of us, even those who no longer live in Oregon, paid for those widows and now will have to pay to fix them. Our tax dollars at work. Where is the fairness in your poor decisions? Why should we have to pay for your temper tantrum? Years ago, there was a protest at the federal building in Eugene where terrorists, like the ones on Saturday night, broke windows. I was a television anchor/reporter at the time. We saw the guy responsible on video, but the authorities had no proof. At a protest the following day, I saw the guy and started following him with the camera rolling. I kept asking him, are you the guy who broke the windows at the federal building? He tried to get away from me, but I kept rolling, following him through the crowd, asking. Finally, fed up, he screamed at me, on camera, yes I am. Federal authorities took that video and convicted the guy. If the terrorists want to play hardball, perhaps it’s time the public strikes back. Not with violence and name-calling, that’s what they do. Instead, fight back with accountability. Make sure charges are pressed. When protests turn to riots, pressure your city leaders and police departments to enforce the law, not hide behind weakness or fear of angering someone. It’s time your police and elected leaders represent all people not just the ones they agree with or are afraid to challenge. The public is already mad. But complaining on social media won’t cut it. They break the law, and you should use those laws to educate them. If elected leaders won’t listen, then elect ones who will. Public opinion is turning. The legacy media won’t share that story, but I will. They have everything to lose if they suddenly start exposing their bias. Play fair? Good advice, if only you would require the same of yourselves.
