The Clock & Calendar Of GodLuke 12:19-20“And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?”This young farmer in Luke 12 thought he had “many years” left in his life, but God knew and even told him he only had a few hours left. God called him a fool because he had been living like a fool. He wasn’t a fool because he farmed, or even built bigger barns. There’s nothing wrong with any of that. He was a fool because he left God out of his life. Like it says in Romans 8:21 & 22, he did not glorify God, was not thankful, became vain in his thoughts, his heart then became darkened, and while professing to himself to be wise, thinking he had a long life to live and could take it easy, he became a fool. The story of this young man’s life just ends. We are left to wonder if he ever made things right in his heart and life. The chapter goes on and Jesus tells us all that life is more than a collection of things. Life is about seeking God. And, the clock and calendar of God does not always correspond with ours. Question: If God let you know you only had a few hours left to live how would you live them?
