Why Has God Allowed This To Happen? Romans 8:28-29 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” My title to this devotion is a question that no doubt thousands of Christians have asked down through the ages. The question of why did God allow this to happen can be asked in many ways. Since God is sovereign, then why didn’t He keep this from happening? Why did He allow this to happen? Why didn’t He answer my prayer the way I wanted Him to? The short answer to these questions is this; conformity to the image of His Son Jesus Christ. What does it mean to be a Christian? What does it mean to be Christlike? How does one become Christlike? According to Romans 8:28, I believe the “good” that God is trying to work in the life of every Christian is to be more like Jesus Christ. May God help us to submit our will to His working in our life to make us like Jesus Christ.
