Facing Adversity With FaithProverbs 24:10“If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.”Some Bible verses carry with them a powerful punch of conviction when you read them. To me Proverbs 24:10 is one of those verses. As Christians, our strength to carry on during times of adversity comes through our faith in God. I personally find conviction in these verses, realizing that there are times or certain situations in my life in which my faith seems very small. We all have our personal fears along with certain types of adversities we have to contend with and faith in God is the only way to overcome them. The Old Testament patriarch Job had to overcome a great personal fear. He said in Job 3:25 “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.” As we read through the book of Job we find many things that could have been the one thing that Job “greatly feared”, but we cannot really say for certain what it was. Whatever it was we find he faced it. He did not run away from it. He faced it trusting God. Job said in Job 13:15,“Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.”Adversity will come and with adversity comes fear. May God help us to face our fears and adversities with faith in Him. May we find strength through our faith in God so we do not faint.
