WORSHIP IN THE WORD
There are no places in the Bible where the words "worship" and "service" are found in the same verse, yet you will find many occurrences of "worship" being used with words like "word," "words," "law," "statutes," and "judgments." The word of God should be the center of all worship as only the word of God itself can be the infallible guide of our worship. The further we drift from the Bible itself with human input the more prone we are to worship "ye know not what" (John 4:22). The closer we stay to the Bible the more pure and true our worship becomes. Therefore, there can be no higher form of worship than that of yielding our full, undivided attention to the voice of God through his preserved, written words.
Today our folks spent over seventy minutes flipping through their Bibles from Genesis through Revelation as I taught them some important truths about Israel and the dangerous heresy of replacement theology. There were only two opening congregational hymns and no closing hymn or invitation, yet we worshipped God, because we gave serious attention to his words for well over an hour. People were brought closer to God by coming to a better understanding of a subject dear to his heart. That's true worship, and I hope to never be involved with any church where it isn't practiced.
