He Always Knows
John 6:5-6
“When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.”
The record of the feeding of the 5,000 is written for us in all four of the Gospels. Nearing the end of the day and realizing the people needed to eat Jesus wanted to feed them. How do you feed a crowd of 5,000 plus people when you do not have enough money or any food?
Our text tells us that Jesus “knew what He would do”.
Neither Philip or any of the other disciples knew what Jesus would do.
The boy with the five loaves and two small fishes did not know what Jesus would do.
The crowd did not know what Jesus would do.
The simple lesson that I learn here is this, when I do not know what God is going to do, by faith I can trust He knows what He wants to do. God is omniscient. This means He knows everything. God is omnipotent. This means He is all-powerful. Why should I worry about what is going to happen next when God already knows.
