1 Corinthians 16:13 “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.”The word “quit” in this verse does not mean to give up. While the primary usage of the word can mean to leave or depart, its secondary—and intended—meaning here is to carry through, to perform fully, to finish what has been entrusted without retreat.Paul is issuing both an encouragement and a command: do not abandon your post. Be steadfast, unmovable, and faithful in your walk with God and in your responsibilities before men.Today, men have largely abandoned manhood, and women have been pressured to abandon womanhood. This is not accidental. Satan understands that God’s design for man and woman—especially their God-given roles in the family—is foundational. Attack the roles, and the structure collapses. As long as those roles are reversed, blurred, or diminished, the devil gains ground. When that happens, people quit in the worldly sense—giving up, surrendering to fleshly desires, or yielding to the pressure of the culture. But Scripture commands the opposite: “quit you like men.”That is, stand your ground, finish your duty, endure hardship, and obey God to the end. This is not a call to pride or domination—it is a call to biblical strength, faithfulness, and perseverance. God never told men to give up; He told them to stand fast and be strong.
